Seeking Help?
Care Ministers
Shallowford Presbyterian Church seeks to be a "Place of Grace." Often Grace is expressed simply by presence. Care ministers seek to be present in loving, affirming and helpful ways to individuals and families through the ups and downs of life. We meet once a month for training and help in our work as Care Ministers. We assign all of our shut-ins to a care minister who agrees to contact their care receiver at least once per month by visit, card or call. The Care Ministers are also available to meet with anyone requesting this caring service. We welcome new folks who would like to join us and be a part of this significant ministry.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Shallowford Presbyterian Church has a very active group of folks who pray for a recipient as they either knit or crochet a prayer shawl, lap blanket or baby blanket. Recipients can be in the church or can be acquaintances who have a special need for prayer. This group sponsors periodic workshops which provide an opportunity for folks to learn new skills, re-learn old skills, or help others to get started in this meaningful ministry. Anyone is welcome to join us. More information can be found on the Shawl ministry website which is: www.shawlministry.com
Alzheimer's Support Group
Are you caring for someone with it? Are you scared you may have it? Do you know what it is? Do you know the characteristics? Do you need help? Are you feeling guilty, over whelmed, or under appreciated? If you answer even one of these questions with a “yes,” you need to come to the Shallowford Survivors Support Group for Alzheimer’s Disease Caregivers. You do not have to be alone in your struggle. We meet every Tuesday at 10 AM in the Chapel Basement of Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 2375 Shallowford Road, Atlanta, GA 30345. Alzheimer's Support Group
Prayer Network
Shallowford Prayer Network is a group of Shallowford members who have agreed to pray for other members of the church throughout the year. We do not meet as a group, but rather incorporate these prayers into our personal prayer times. In January each person in the Network is given a list of 3 people to pray for. In February, each person is given a different list of 3 people and so on. By the end of year this group will have prayed for every member of Shallowford and their children. You can join the group of pray-ers at any time during the year. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Prue Swerlick.
Spirituality Retreats
Retreats which help to strengthen our relationship with God are offered periodically at Shallowford. Some of our retreats are held at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers and usually are for two nights. We also offer an overnight retreat at Calvin Conference Center in Hampton, GA.
