Welcome to Shallowford Children’s Ministry! We are delighted to have you join our safe, nurturing environment for children from age newborn through fifth grade. While in our care, we seek to help children grow in their faith, guided by God’s love at Shallowford are active participants in the whole church, nurtured by the love and care of many faithful adult volunteers, and staff. There is always something happening in ministry at Shallowford for both parent and child.
Wednesday Evening Blast Program
All children are welcome to join us for Wednesday Evenings at Shallowford from 5:15 pm to 6:00 pm! The children will watch an animated Bible story video, talk about the story, read their Bible Storybook or Bible, and try a creative activity. There will be plenty of fun, fellowship and recreation.
Many of our children at Shallowford are involved in our many different choirs that make up our Music Ministry. The following choirs practice on Wednesday evenings as part of Wednesday evening activities:
- The Trinity Choir (grades 1-2) meets from 5:15 pm to 6:00 pm in the Joyful Noise Room.
- The Westminster Choir (grades 3–5) meets from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Joyful Noise Room on the third floor of the Education building.
- The Westminster Bell Choirs (grades 3-5) meet Wednesdays from 5:15 pm to 6:00 pm in the sanctuary.
9:30 am Sunday School for all ages
Sunday School classes are available for all ages every Sunday morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Children’s classes are typically divided by age.
Toddlers and Twos · Nursery
Our Preschoolers learn about their faith through play, music, crafts, and God Loves Me Bible stories while under the care of our Nursery staff and volunteers. Once children are three years old, they are welcome to start in worship with their families and join the Cherub Choir as they leave after the children’s moment.
Three-Year-Old & Prekindergarten · Room 303 · Third Floor of the Education Building
Our three-year-old and Prekindergarten children explore their faith using music, crafts, Bible stories, and activities with the Frolic curriculum. Children join their parents for Sanctuary worship and leave for Cherub Choir after the Children’s Message. If attending Chapel worship at 8:45 am, children can either attend worship or play in the Toddler Room.
Elementary Children · Third Floor of the Education Building
Our kindergarten through fifth grade children participate in a classroom Sunday school from Spark Active Faith curriculum. They work on crafts, reenact Bible stories, explore their faith through activities, and honor their Bible skills through games and active play. First through fifth graders are invited to remain in worship with their families. Kindergarteners join their parents for worship and leave for Cherub Choir after the Children’s Message.
8:30 am – 12:30 pm on Sunday mornings for children ages three and younger
God’s love for our children is reflected in the care and nurture the children receive in our Infant and Toddler nurseries. A team of professional caregivers and trained volunteers care for children in the nursery suite located adjacent to the Sanctuary.
