Dear members and friends of Shallowford,

A task force of the session is meeting weekly to monitor the implications of the spread of COVID-19 for our congregation. The safety of our staff and members is our first priority. As such, Shallowford will not have in-person gatherings until further notice.

Click here to read a letter from our Executive Presbyter, Rev. Aisha Brooks-Lytle, about the Presbytery’s recommendations. We will hope to reinstate in-person meetings incrementally, as directed by public health guidelines.

While we are unable to be together in person, the work of the church is ongoing. Through the gifts of technology, phone calls, and old fashioned cards, the staff and congregation will continue to worship together, pray together, serve together, and care for each other. We will even celebrate communion together from our homes on Sunday, May 10, so gather your bread and juice! When we are able to be together again, we will be even more grateful for our connections in this branch of the body of Christ.

As we said on Easter, we can think of no bolder way to celebrate the embodied love of the Risen Christ than to stay home to protect the bodies of people Jesus loves. Thank you for celebrating resurrection and practicing safe social distancing with us.

Peace,

COVID-19 Task Force of the Shallowford Session
