Journey with Jesus
An event every day that begins at 12:00am, repeating until April 19, 2019
Shallowford Presbyterian Church is hosting a Holy Week event entitled “A Journey with Jesus (JWJ)”. JWJ will be a self-guided, meditative experience of walking with Jesus from his anointing at Bethany, to the upper room, through the garden of Gethsemane, to his trial before the Sanhedrin, to his interrogation by Pilate, to the cross, and ultimately, to the tomb.
Each event along the journey will be represented by a station that will tell the story of the event using a variety of elements with the intent of engaging each of the five senses. The participants will have the opportunity to see, to touch, to smell, to hear, and to taste the elements of each story of Christ’s agonizing journey from Bethany to the tomb. Each station will contain a scripture verse and a devotion to provide opportunity for reflection, meditation, and prayer.
The stations will have elements that remind us of the ancient stories but also elements that bring these stories to life in our modern days, in a thoughtful, relevant way. The extraordinary video in the link below was developed by Chris Buechner and Jill Perry during last year’s JWJ.
