Mindfulness Matters

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (8-Week Course)

MBSR is an educational offering designed to enhance our innate human capacity for mindful, wholehearted awareness. This interactive, engaging, practical program is grounded in practices that enable you recognize habitual patterns of reaction. Responding intentionally instead of reacting emotionally becomes a possibility. Participants may discover long-held emotional and behavioral patterns that create unnecessary stress. These reactive patterns are often the basis of mental, physical and spiritual disease and suffering. As insights arise through self-observation, an increased sense of stability, kindness, compassion, and joy emerges.
This life-affirming program includes: Guided mindfulness practices, Gentle movement and mindful yoga, Activities to cultivate greater awareness in everyday life, Group dialogue and support (but not therapy), Daily home practices, and Supporting materials.

Next Class: TBD
Class Location: All classes will meet in Heritage Hall at Shallowford Presbyterian Church.
Course Tuition: $260

Compassion Meditation: Exploring Compassion as a Commitment and a Practice

A 5-week course for new and experienced meditators.

“Compassion is knowing your darkness well enough that you can sit in the dark with others.” – Pema Chodren

Open to new and experienced meditators including MBSR alums, the intention of this course is to cultivate our capacity for kindness and compassion. By recognizing the light and dark in our shared humanity, participants are encouraged to practice kindness and care for ourselves as well as others. When aligned with a sense that we’re all inextricably linked by a power greater than us, it’s possible to attune to that power and become grounded in compassion and belonging.

This course is for anyone who is open to exploring meditation and self-reflection as a portal to human connection and compassionate action.

Next Class: TBD
Class Location: All classes will meet in Heritage Hall at Shallowford Presbyterian Church.
Course Tuition: $125
