In 2014, Scott McGough had a career and an active social life. Although he was a member of a church, he wasn’t attending.

Due to stress from work and family relationships, he felt something was missing in his life. Scott had heard about Mindfulness and wanted to learn more.

He found a class at Shallowford and signed up. After attending the first session, Scott walked down the hall and stopped in front of a photo display showing people and activities at Shallowford.

“I was looking at the display and the Mindfulness class leader came up to me and asked if I was looking for a faith community.” Scott said, “Yes, I am. I attended worship for the first time a few days later and was given the warmest welcome and told about Shallowford’s Adult Sunday School classes.”

Scott joined the Pairs & Spares Sunday School class and volunteered with members of the class one weekend on a campus beautification project. “I was looking for new and different experiences as an outlet from work and family stress.” Scott said, “Opportunities came about to do things I had not experienced before.”

Scott has made many friends on campus over the years. “My life has been enriched by the many relationships I have made based on respect and trust.” Scott said, “I want to give back to Shallowford by developing a workshop for youth one day.”

Your generosity to Shallowford Church makes it possible to maintain the Shallowford Center for Mindful Living, along with Adult Sunday School classes that enrich the lives of many. Not only do these programs nurture our own congregation, but act as an outreach to those who are looking to join a faith community.

Thank you for helping to make this possible.
