Welcome to Shallowford Children’s ministry! We are delighted to have you join our safe, nurturing environment for children from newborn through 5th grade. We seek to help the children in our care grow in their faith, guided by God’s love. At Shallowford, our children are active participants in the whole church, nurtured by the love and care of many faithful adult volunteers and staff. There is always something happening for both parents and children.

Wednesday FAITH Program

Preschool through fifth graders are invited to sign up for a Session E in-person class with Shallowford’s staff and music makers! This four-week session, beginning on April 14, 2021, will have a variety of classes. All classes will have a maximum of 12 students. Our Preschool class is slightly different as we request that a parent/adult attend with their preschool child. Classes are offered Wednesdays at the times below. Each child may sign up for a single class. Registration will close on April 12th.
The following classes are being offered for Session E:
  • 4:30pm – Sing and Play with Pastor Landon and Ms. Anne (Preschool child & Parent/Adult) Join us as we record the weekly Children’s Sermon, sing, and play during our time together.
    4:30pm – Handbells
    (4th/5th)
    5:30pm – Bucket Drumming
    (3rd-5th)
    5:30pm – Orff Instruments
    (K-2nd)

In order for classes to meet, we will require that a minimum of 4 children register.  Registration will close on April 12.

By registering for in-person activities, you are agreeing to the Shallowford Covenant and all of our safety protocols. If this is your first in-person class of the school year, please download our Child Protection Policy Form and either scan and email it to [email protected] or bring it with you to your child’s first class on April 14.  For more information, please contact Landon Dillard at [email protected] or Anne Thomas at [email protected]

Sunday Mornings

Sunday school classes are typically divided by age: Toddlers & Two-Year-Olds, Three-Year-Olds & PreKindergarten, and Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Sunday school is offered from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and is led by a team of faithful adult volunteers.

During 11:00 a.m. worship, all children are invited to the chancel steps for a brief Children’s Sermon. Children ages 3 through K are then dismissed for Cherub Choir practice, led by our children’s choir director.

Adventure Island VBS

Vacation Bible School

Each summer, Shallowford hosts Cokesbury’s week-long Vacation Bible School for children age three (and potty trained) through rising 5th graders. The children learn about God, our world, and one another. We also look for volunteers to help us. For those of you 12 and older, you can be involved, too! Whatever your gifts and availability, we would love to have your help. Vacation Bible School is scheduled for June 14-18, 2021. Registration will be open in April 2021.
Important Update (4.8.2021)
This summer will look different from previous years as we work to follow Shallowford’s guidelines set by the COVID-19 Task Force. Due to restrictions on group size, we will limit registration. Registration will open first to church members, then to non-church members.

Shallowford Presbyterian School

Shallowford Presbyterian School

Serving preschool through grade school, Shallowford Presbyterian School (SPS) provides a loving, safe environment in which each child feels special and important. For over 50 years, SPS has nurtured thousands of children, many of whom have returned to enroll their own children.

Shallowford Presbyterian School is accredited by AdvancED.

Childcare

God’s love for our children is reflected in the care and nurture the children receive in our infant and toddler nurseries. A team of professional caregivers and trained volunteers care for children in the nursery suite located adjacent to the sanctuary. Childcare is available on Sunday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children ages three and younger.

Child Protection & Safety

As we nurture, support, educate, and guide our children and youth, we are dedicated to protecting them from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at all times.
