Q&A with Rebecca

It may come as no surprise to many of you that on The Enneagram scale I fall under Type Two: The Helper, every. single. time. Naturally, each morning I’m excited to figure out new and innovative ways I can help serve Shallowford using my time and gifts as communications director. My family also plays a role in my daily motivation. I feel proud knowing that I am able to do my part in contributing to the family my husband and I have created.

Like most of our church staff my work week can change on a dime, but per usual I have weekly tasks that always make it on my To-Do list. These responsibilities include:

  • curate the weekly church newsletter sent Monday afternoons
  • schedule social media posts and engagement
  • Maintain the church website (shallowford.org) include the COVI-19 landing page, Sunday worship information, announcements, and upcoming events
  • Design graphics for social media, newsletters, or event promotion
  • Collaborate with staff, committee chairs, and volunteers on specific projects
  • Manage AV needs for Sunday worship service
  • Create Sunday worship content include the weekly email sent out Friday mornings, lower third graphics, website updates, attendance tracking, and stream live events
  • Update temporary signage around campus
  • Develop one-off campaigns to invite both members and neighbors to join SPC

Livestream worship, hands down! In February 2021, Shallowford launched its first LIVE worship service straight from the sanctuary and into our viewers homes. For online worshippers the look and feel changed slightly, but the real impact was felt by our in-person worship leaders. We are worshipping again like old times…in the sanctuary and on Sundays. Hallelujah!

…knowing that I work with and for a group of people who care. Not just about Shallowford, but for one another, and for our neighbors in the community.

When Rebecca was in the 8th grade she coached a 4th grade girls basketball team at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School. That year her team made it to the championship game and WON! Go Blue Team!

What is one way you choose to connect with Shallowford each week? Is it through online or in-person worship? Reading the weekly e-news email? Scrolling through our Facebook and Instagram accounts? etc. I want to know!
